I posted a reply in the thread about gimp 2.7 32 bit..but decided to go on and post a new topic as it is becoming more prevelant. I suppose due to the picture I am working on I am using the smudge brush...a lot...

I use partha's builds and have never ever had a crash issue (bless you partha!). Everything's always worked well etc.... Has anyone else noticed since the last build a few weeks back that when they use the smudge brush, Gimp crashes...like 85% of the time? I have had to start saving every few strokes after losing twice hours of work on this one picture due to smudge crashing.

I had noticed it periodically prior to this, but until this picture didn't realize it was on the smudge brush....now..it's almost constant....

Anyway, just wished to let it be known, in case it was something that could be fixed in the next build.

This image is only 372X342 so it isn't a large image t'all. Thank you though for giving me the insight to give that information. I've never had issues before, which is why this was so startling to have happen...continually.

Sounds like another bug with the brush dynamics at play.

Weird. I just used the smudge tool in the 2.7.6 build and had no crashes.

ai..2.7.6 is what i am using....i worked 9 hours on my last pic..lost two major progressions due to forgetting to save and crashing on smudge...and at time..had..literally ...an 85% crash rate using it...vs 0 before.....

I did notice once i realized what was happening......it seemed the more i save..the less it crashed...unsure what that could mean......*begins to wish there was an auto save in Gimp*.....

I learned long ago to save very often when using GIMP, even I had just saved a few moments prior. GIMP is fantastic, but is definitely prone to crashes.

There is another solution - autosave:

Awesome thanks.....already installed.

The reason I brought it up is because it is something that in the year and a half I've been using Gimp, crashing has never been an issue in my environment until now. Count myself lucky I guess.

Thanks for all the help
