Need advice on painting hair.

Operating System: Windows
OS Version: XP - SP3
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

I want to put some strand detail and contrast into my fairy's hair but I don't want to fuss too much. Any advice is welcome.

Here is a link I've been practicing on..it might be a bit fussier than you want as you said you weren't going to fuss over it that much..but here it is anyway....and I'll keep digging for more...I swear I have a couple..

That's a pretty good one Jorden, I could adapt that quite easily. Thanks for the link. I'm thinking of giving her a plaited pony tail. Haven't decided yet. My problem seems to be that I start off too light when doing blonde hair.
