I'm editing a group of images using the select tools, and I've been using CTRL-C, CTRL-V, and CTRL-X alot. The problem I've been having is just pressing the CTRL key enables "Expand from center", so after a few selections, one will get screwed up. Is there any way to disable CTRL from toggling "Expand from center"?

Have a look at Edit/Keyboard shortcuts open up the edit box and there you can assign any key or combination of keys to do anything you want or turn off any sequence you dont want.
EDIT , I had another look but it doesnt seem to have the short cut that you are after

You can however change the shortcut keys for Cut, Copy, and Paste under Edit>Key Board Shortcuts>Edit

What does expand from center even do? Go does not behave like this for me.

If you want your selection centralized, you select expand from center and start your selection from the center. It will expand it from the center rather than the corner.

Oh, as in while you have the selection marquee box activated before you actually commit to the selection?

Right from when you start the selection.

To me, it sounds like you are not committing the selection beforehand. Do you continually hold in control the entire time you're selecting anything?

I'm not with you. You click on your selection tool ( rectangle or ellipse ) you select "expand from center" then you make your selection starting from where you want the center of the selection to be. I don't know anything about CTRL activating this function.

I'm running on memory, but I'm confident that holding in control will toggle this function, and I think that's what is hanging you up.

Ok, I tried it in 2.6.11 and it doesn't toggle this function in my copy. If it does in yours then great but I was only explaining what the function does because you asked. (it seems odd that you asked if you already know.)

While creating a selection box (still holding LMB down), if I touch the CTRL key, it toggles expand from center. And releasing CTRL toggles it back off. It's not a big deal, and I didn't think there'd be a way to disable it. Just figured I'd ask, in case it was some setting somewhere that I couldn't find.

@Rod
I did consider changing the shortcuts for copy, cut, and paste. But it's really not worth the trouble of relearning new keys. Thanks though :)
