dragging linked layers

Hello!
In Photoshop, I can link 2 or more layers in the layer dialog so I can drag them simultaneously into another image or canvas.
I do this to preserve their relative position to one another.

This is not possible with GIMP, correct?

What I do in GIMP is "merge down", then drag it to a new image.
But sometimes I need the layers separate.

no you can't drag linked layers on another image.

You may duplicate the image, and delete the other layers (one by one ) or copy and past ,again one by one

Actually now in 2.7.1 you can move entire folder groups at once into another image. =)
I am sure 2.8 will keep this implemented.At least i hope they do.

In 2.6.x you can do Layer>Layer to Image Size, on each layer you want to move. Then drag them one at a time and they should line up perfectly.
