Missing Layer Text to Selection menu in GIMP 2.8

Dear GIMP Lover .

I have problem here , ,
I can not found PopUp Menu "Text to Selection" at Layer menu

Where is it , is it part of additional script ?

Please Help,

There is alpha to selection when you right click on your layer, and also text to path and text along path.
If you click alpha to selection, it puts the marching ants around your text and that means your text is selected.

As Molly stated alpha to selection is probably what you are looking for.

As Molly said there is a "Text to Path" you could use, then use selection 'From Path' found in the Select menu.

The others have suggested solutions but to answer your question, no it wasn't an additional script, it seems to be a feature in 2.6 that's been removed in 2.8, probably because of the changes to the text tool.

Maybe it as removed because it's exactly the same as alpha to selection on the text layer (if the text is opaque, of course)
