I have been pulling my hair out for about a week now and currently have about two left! LOL!! I am trying to make the 1” bottle cap images. I would like to be able to change the colors, images and text to represent our area school colors and mascots. I am new to GIMP 2.8, but have worked with layers and images in other programs. I think my confusion is with the layers. I can open my background image (Black polka dots on white) and use the ellipse selection tool to draw my circle. I then select invert and delete to get my first layer of the image. I then go to Scale Image and set my width and height to 1.03”. Now I start having problems. I am assuming I need to create a layer and paste my 1.03” circles 15 times on the layer (for a 4”x6” template). What is my next step to creating a layer. I am picturing this project like a sandwich…having a background layer, my image background layer (black polka dots on white), a layer with my shapes, and a layer with my text, etc. This way I can easily go back and change colors, etc if they are all separated. How do I do this? I have tried to create layers, however they never look like I envision my final layer to look like. I know the layers have to be in a certain order so everything works correctly. I have noticed in some of the tutorials that people mention purchasing a “Template” for the bottle cap images. Is this necessary?? Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
