Hello :)

Could you please look at this image and tell me what would be the best way to add "Japan" somewhere in the background of this image, to spoil as little as possible of the image. Maybe something with contrast/light... maybe it will look like 3D?

I am doing many similar ones & need some directions

Thanks for all your help! :hi5 :gimp :tyspin Image

Sometimes in a case like this, a nice text with very low opacity to make it see through might look nice. Either in white or that off white that is the fuzz around the edge of the red, color name #E1A7C4

Funny thing is I had no idea which font could feel japanese, also no idea how to setup a japanese mood in terms of color and concept (outside the clichéd red&white sunrays you see everywhere). So it was a little bit challenging for me. I've decided to take a japanese beer brand I know of and roughly mimic its style using another font to try and see what happens. I think the best place to insert your 'japan' letters is down-left, as it doesn't break any important details of the original portrait. Oh and, for the record, I made use of the shear tool for the very first time, yay !

I uploaded my xcf source (compressed) if you wanna see how it's made, it's pretty straight-forward.

That is what I also had in mind Rich. I would also like to see that pulled over into the red to see how it looks as a see through text. Very nice
