Help!! so when i first got gimp everything was fine and everything worked very well. But now when i open gimp i will try to use the tools and it will not work, its as if gimp doesn't recognize me clicking. any one know how to help?

What OS are you using? Ever since I updated my OS to Win7 64-bit, I've had more then the occasional freeze issue with GIMP (can't duplicate the condition, but it has happened at least a dozen times to me today alone). Only solution is the run Task Manager and then end it (not hard to find the process that's taking up a lot of CPU cycles). Then you re-open GIMP (of course all data is lost). Not sure if 2.6.11 resolved this issue (more then likely not), but I currently use 2.6.10 since 2.6.11 hosed many of my Photoshop filters.

Maybe try 2.6.10 (uninstall 11 first of course). They did do more then a few added things with 2.6.11 and I suspect that it's causing your grief.

Now I know 2.6.11 is problematic for MACs too. Hope someone who knows a developer gets the message and fixes this. Not sure about Linux version of 2.6.11 since I really haven't played much with GIMP Linux of late (don't plan on it either).

GIMP updates and bug fixes generally work well for Linux (they should, that's where GIMP is developed).
2.6.11 (as was all versions before it) is very stable here. Then again I'm not relying on any third party filters or plugins working, which seems to be an issue for some with new upates.

These days I'm running the from-source compiled GIMP development version. Works well too, although features tend to come and go from day to day.
