Cage tool: error message

GIMP Version: 2.8.4
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: XP
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

When I use the tool cage, an error message appears and, then, the GIMP disappears (quit). Can anybody help me to find the solution? I use the Windows XP and the version 2.8.4 of the GIMP. I have a notebook with the Windows 7 and the tool cage works well.

Works for me (2.8.4 on XP+SP3). There is a bug, but somewhat innocuous: the pointer is the one from the perspective tool

That is really a mysterious error message because Gimp does nothing with external Windows "Visual C runtime libraries".
but yet identical messages sometimes appear... alas they don't give any useful hint.

If is not a rare problem that only randomly happen then may be necessary try to run gimp in "verbose" mode to try to get the "real" gimp error messages

@PhotoComix: Gimp does. The Visual C runtime library is MSVCRT.dll and this library is used by libglib and, of course, libstdc++.
But that doesn't help the thread starter. Maybe it is a memory problem. Maybe the problem is an older version of the library MSVCRT.dll.
