If i were to do a bigger project and experimenting and all that stuff and ending up with something i like finally, or even You like in the future, right.
One might ask me how i did it.
And i might go eum-hmm, "sorta"-kinda like this.. :*)
And as time go by, the more gauasian blurry my answer would be maby.

So my question is, what methods do you use to improve memory so to speak.
You actually write notes on many layers or?
Oldfascioned pen and paper?
I have consitered screen recording.

You mean i'll get used to it and it's for my own good etc and if i dont start writing, in blue color even, i will always forget sooner or later.
Ohh man.. notpad++ will get used much more now.

Ps. Actually i Think there was tests made about blue text, somewhere.. and that could improove this even more.

So, what is the best software for this you guys think.
I would like to organize/categorize it and make things redicilus easy to find as possible.
And with color support text and BG highlights and other stuff (thumbnails) and other stuff i have not thought of yet.
So lets do this properly, 2013-style guys.

This is no training, it's going to good practice to where and how i put my notes from now on and i need to be able to be specific with all from my favourite settings and colors and who knows what.
And we do have a huuuuge filter bank here and thats only One thing, lol
Some make this by scripts, but i am not about to learn how to program those things. lol
What you can do is not very helpfull for me because i'm the one with obvious needs for something like this it looks like and i am learning something New with Gimp if you know what i mean.
I would'nt need this method in the kitchen or when making music and other stuff.

I don't think i'm going to be 500 years old either and i would like to speed things up abit, i think your tip is a good one if i just do it the 2013-way.
For example, i still remember POKE 53280.0 and stuff like that from the good old days, might not be helpfull for some of you.

Alright, this one many of you might already know, lets make you All know.
If we have a project with layers one can have a layer with just info or what ever right..
Then we wanna save as .xcf keeping all layers and info and all is good, almost.
One thing missing would be sagethumbs, this will allow you to see a thumb-preview of the .xcf in Windows, wich works eccelent.
Might as well tip about a video thumb counterpart i found, media preview from babelsoft.net.

Ps, I have not tested it yet ok, my thoughts are young and i'm getting closer to what i would like, in theory.

I do use very long names on some layers/channels/paths sometimes.

For the rest, I try to go for the root principles and deduce the rest when needed, this is much less to memorize.

Once you get the look you are after, do whatever you can to repeat the flow. Repetition, repetition, repetition (why do you think I Droste so much; lol). You can document a procedure, but the nuiance is all but impossible to document and that is what repetition gives you; the understanding of the nuiances and how a particular image will result when you apply that flow.

I can emagine the top dog pixelpushers and artists got a huuuuge library of work and ideas.
So using say a software imdb-like database is not needed even for them? like the link i used just to give a hint of what i mean.

I find, Image | Image Properties | Comment tab handy. I mainly use it for font names and resource info.

I think this is the best suggestion yet. This is a very underutilized reference source that's literally at our fingertips. I'm going to have to use this more often.

Why is it that most of the answers seem to be right under our noses all the time.
