Custom palette saving

GIMP Version: 2.8.2
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: Vista 32 bits
GIMP Experience: Beginner Level

All included in Photocomix package

Paletes are not able to be saved, check the palettes folder at the GIMP preferences.

I haven't changed the gimprc file, but it does not allow me to save a custom palette I created based on the 'Bear' default palette.

Are you using save button in the Palette Editor?

the only time I saved a custom palette (just today...) was having first created my palette from an image, then inside the palette tab choosing import from the palettised-image (bad word, but meaningful...)

Yes, I am using the save button in the Palette editor.

Hi gasto,
I gave it a test on Gimp 2.8.1 Win 7 64 bit.
Working OK for me. I edited the Bears palette and saved a copy.
Can you post a screen clip of what your Palette folders look like under the Folders section in the Preferences window. That might elude to where the issue lies.

I think it is now saving for whatever reason. The preferences are here anyway:
