Luminosity Masks

GIMP Version: 2.8.14
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: New User

List any relevant plug-ins or scripts:
luminosity-mask.py

How do I install this plugin? Or where do I find it do download? I understand where to put it once I have it ( ~/.gimp-2.x/plug-ins) but I can't seem to find anywhere to get the plugin.

I am not familiar with the Python plug-in but I would assume that the file is gimp-luminosity-mask.py.txt and that you will need to rename it to remove .txt extension.

Alternately, you might consider trandoductin's Script-fu discussed here.

When you clicked the link, appears the py code of this plugin, well?.

Then you must use "Save as ...", name it only as gimp-luminosity-mask.py and select /.gimp-2.x/plug-ins folder to save it in.

Before to do it check where /.gimp-2.x/plug-ins folder is allocated. In win7 you must folllow the path: Users>youruser> .gimp-2.x>plug-ins

Just remember to use sauls version of the script. It's more efficient than the one I hacked together

Just to make sure I have this down correctly, I need to save the gimp-luminosity-mask.py.txt file to my computer. Then change the file extension to .py, and finally put it in the plugins folder. Is this correct?

Pat David, how do I find Sauls version to install?

i think you just gotta copy that code and toss it in a text file and name the file with .scm extension and toss the file into your gimp's scripts folder.

here's the file thrown in a .scm

Just toss it in your Gimp's /scripts folder.

and inside Gimp it'll be under /Filters/Generic/Luminosity Masks(saulgoode).
