Ok, I recently converted to a iMac and I am such a newb its not even funny. I installed gimp - and am wanting to add additional scripts, so I went and found a script I wanted, downloaded it and went to gimp in finder, which was under devices(I noticed that in tutorials I saw that gimp was under applications)...anyways I got to the script folder and tried to drag the .scm file I downloaded into the script folder, however, I get a little circle with a cross through it. For the LIFE of me I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong! Someone please help! I want to make the mac switch but at this point I am beyond frustrated.

Download your script/plug-in

The script-fu scripts are kept inside the application resource package:
Go to the Gimp application and control-click on it;
select 'Show Package Contents';
go to Contents>Resources>share>gimp>2.0>scripts;
and insert the script-fu script.

If Gimp is running, activate the script by going to Filters in the menu and select Script-Fu>Refresh Scripts.

1. Download BatCHMod from macupdate so You can change the permissions. It does not matter where You put the file, user folder (recommended) or in the package contents but if You don´t change permissions scripts and plugins will not show up in Gimp.
2. In Lion & Mountain Lion user folder is hidden. Hold Option down and And it will be available under Go Menu.
3. Browse to /Application Support/Gimp-2.8/Scripts or Plugins. Drop the file there. It´s better to keep them in there than inside Application.
