GIMP Version: 2.8.4
Operating System: Linux
OS Version: Fedora-19
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

On my Gimp-2.8.6 version using Linux Fedora-19, my mode window turns white when I hover the mouse. In the previous version I could use the mouse wheel there and change the modes without clicking anything until I saw a mode I liked. Now that I am using this version, the little white window, as shown in the screen shot below turns white so I can't see what mode I am using. The mode changes when I scroll though.
Anyone else having this problem?

Maybe a problem with your theme (displays white on white or some such)?

This is what i would suggest. Change the theme to default and see if that fixes it. :)

On my system, with the default GIMP theme, the mode text is black and the background is white. When I hover, the background changes to gray.

I think it could be a problem with either your GIMP theme, your GNOME theme or possibly an issue with your video driver. Nvidia's open source driver "Nouveau" has some issues. I ended up installing nVidia's proprietary driver, due to anomalies with the "Nouveau" driver.

The one where I couldn't see the modes was dark nice. I switched to Clear looks dark Lime. I can now see the modes.
