Is there a tut to make a 2d graphic and turn it into a 3d animation?

Sorry I haven't been around. Been a really turbulent spring/summer. No, no law enforcement involved but a bunch of doctors and stuff. Not for me though .. for the Mrs. Everything is good though.

My question is this ...

can you take a emblem like the one I found on deviantart.com --> http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/140/3/f/modern_warfare_3_prestige_1_emblem_by_papaoscarzulu-d50flij.png

an be able to make a 3d animation spinning on it's Y axis. I would imagine you'd have to give it some depth (thickness).

Soooooo .. can this be done in Gimp? If so point me to the tutorial! =))

While not the best app for it, 3D rotation can be done in GIMP. Have a look at these two threads..
