I want to recreate a logo animation from a video and am having trouble figuring out how to attack it.
I've already recreated the logo in full, complete with paths. The animation has a clock face in the background that is skewed and is rotating.
I'm not an animation guy but this seemed like a fun project to explore but I might have bitten off more than I can chew. :P

I'm wondering if this is a better project for blender or if there is a good way this could be done in gimp. My target is to make an animated png.

Here is the logo in action:

Thanks for any advice. :)

This spinning clock is doable if you first make all your animation from top/front view:

Then apply exactly the same transformation to all layers (eg perspective tool):

Edit:
sorry, spinning in counterclockwise direction :hehe

Just what I was looking for. I'll give it a go.
Thanks!

Did you have a way to batch perspective the frames?
No way I can see to enter repeatable values into the perspective tool. I guess I could use guides and snaps, but just wondered if I've overlooked something.
Thanks.

Hi akovia,
Just 'link' the layers in the Layers window first, then apply the perspective to one, and it will apply to all linked layers. ;)

After reading your requirements for a Batch script I quickly put together one, and it does just what you need
Please let me know if you want me to post

Thanks fluffybunny,
I'm still getting my footing with the animation package and working with frames. I was looking for a way to batch apply to all the frames so I never considered linking. Once I merged back all the frames to layers I was able to use linking perfectly. :)

I'd certainly like to check it out. It may be in vain though as I didn't think the quality loss for a single color gif would be so bad. I had wanted to use apng but it looks like adding the plugin to gimp is a bit of a hack. I should have done a bit more research before starting this project. :P
I think it had too much detail but it turned out horrible and I hadn't even added the front logo yet.

If you are up for a challenge, I never did get any hits on this.

Thanks to everyone for the help. I still learned a lot which was one of the goals. :)

Well done, akovia!
You remember that you can put shadows to give it a little more relief, like the logo that you show up.

Thanks Yafu :)
It looks really crappy if indexed and transparent. But RGB with a white background actually looks ok.
Too bad apng never really took off. We could really use a better platform for animations IMO.
Cheers
