How To Make A Gif From A Video In Gimp

GIMP Version: 2.6
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: Windows 7
GIMP Experience: Basic Level

Hey guys! I'm trying to take a video and make a section of it a gif. Is there anyway to do it in GIMP? Thanks!

What you basically need is 1. convert your clip into the image sequence, 2. import to gimp, edit and save as gif animation.
GIMP does not have video codecs/tools to do the first step.
Your options are
a. do step 1 with appropriate video editor
b. install GAP plugin (GIMP Animation Package) - includes video codecs, player, etc.

P.S. b option is not the easiest way, there is some learning curve and possible functionality issues
