(plugin made by Grok and me together) Works on both 2.10 and 3.

I took Grok's shapes plugin and made it where it applies over content as if it were a glass object blurring what is behind it.

Just apply it on the image and click to move the shape.

Location to put binaries

Windows

C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\Local\gegl-0.4\plug-ins

Linux

~/.local/share/gegl-0.4/plug-ins

Linux (Flatpak includes Chromebook)

~/.var/app/org.gimp.GIMP/data/gegl-0.4/plug-ins

To find it in GIMP 3 look in Filters>AI GEGL>Glass Shapes

The shapes were made by Grok and it ships with its sister plugin "shape maker" obviously
http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t ... 19#p296519

But I added many more GEGL nodes to call the original layer, alpha lock then blur it to create this effect. Unlike default shape maker Make sure to apply it on the layer directly, not on a layer above. :pengy

Hi contrast_,

This plug-in doesn't seem to work on GIMP 2.10.38 /Windows 11.
It just freezes the GIMP.
I don't know what the problem is or where to find error logs in Win.
I'm normally a linux-user but want to help out a win user from a German GIMP Forum.

Can you help?

I figured out why this happens and a fix is coming very soon for glass_shapes.c

Glass Shapes doesn't appear in the GEGL Operation menu in GIMP 3.2.0 on Windows 10. What I see is: Glass Object, Glass Text, Glass Tiled Window, & Glass, Metallic, Marble.

In Gimp-3.2.

I did download the latest LinuxBeaver dll releases for the fix though. Maybe that is the problem you are having?

The binaries for Windows are so large I can't host them on GimpChat even when zipped so here they are

Thanks for posting the link here contrast_. :)
I did of course test it in a new download of Gimp-3.2 without moving the dll files at all. Just so you know. I am no longer testing new releases of their dev. versions. Strictly Gimp.org releases for now on. I have had too many problems with the newest dev. installs not starting.

I hope it doesn't have anything to do with my plugins, probably not if its the install.

If you want my experience use 3.0.4 and gegl 0.4.62

well actually I use source compiled 3.0.5 from May 28 2025
