Oregonian Wow! how did you do it? I love it. :)
Marcello, your outcome is very original. I'll try this script too. Thanks GnuTux. :tyspin

Get the Animated Bling Script here: http://gimpscripts.com/2011/10/bling-te ... on-option/

Go here in Gimp Chat: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?p=342#p342 to learn how to use it.

I used the separate gradient stroke for the animation.

Oh my, Issabella, I did not use the bling script to make it. I forgot it's not an alpha to logo script. You will need to use my Bling tutorial here: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?p=819#p819

You will need to make whatever you want to be stroked using the gradient stroke. Turn off the main pattern so that only the gradient stroke is visible.

You will need to use my Bling tutorial here: http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?p=819#p819
I locked the alpha channel on the gradient stroke and duplicated it twice, making 3 layers.

I used the tiny stars pattern that comes in the Bling script, and filled each stroke with a stars pattern, so that each gradient stroke had a different stars pattern in it.

If you haven't downloaded the Bling Text script, I've zipped and attached the stars pattern below. Unzip it and put the three files in your patterns folder. They will appear as white boxes in your patterns. Click on one and you will see the name.

Read how to apply them.

You will need saulgoode's Combine Background script to apply the colored text to all three layers of your "blinged" gradient stroke. Get it here: http://gimpscripts.com/2011/10/combineo ... ackground/

It appears in Filters/Animation/Combine Background. AFter you've done that, you will need to delete the bottom layer of the colored text you made.

This is kind of quick and if you get puzzled, let me know. I can puzzle you further with more instructions. :hehe

I put the scm file in my scripts folder, started GIMP, and went to the Filters / Decor menu only to find the script is not in the menu.
I know from others that it works so what is going on with my GIMP installation? :gaah

:ditto on refresh or restart GIMP.

The latest version of the Gradient Stroke script is in the first post in this thread.

It's been years since I've looked at that one and it needs updating to support some kind of Alpha to Logo.

Nice results from everyone using this script. :bigthup

I've found that the "four bars" type gradients work pretty well as gradient strokes.

I've done both refresh the scripts and restart GIMP and it's still not there. I know it's in the scripts folder because I looked. I think I have another problem. I may just have to completely reinstall GIMP.

Mike, if you are having problems with GIMP, rather than re-install, you might want to just move/rename pluginrc and have GIMP recreate it. if that doesn't help, you can try renaming the gimp-2.8 folder to force Gimp to recreate a fresh one. After that, you can move your resources over until you've gotten everything back. It's likely that uninstalling GIMP will remove your profile folders and you might end up back where you started.

GnuTux adding a Gradient stroke with Bling looks an interesting Option for the script

Well, I still haven't had a chance to incorporate any of the options you mentioned earlier. I will look at those later tonight.

The problem with adding animated bling to this script is that adding animation to a selected region of a layer, in a layer stack, can present several problems, including what to do with the other layers in the stack. I'm thinking that it would be best to just add an alpha section to the existing bling logo script and only apply the animation to the selected layer. The user would have to deal with the other layers in the stack, if any. Maybe Oregonian or other members can chime in here and make a suggestion.

to create a layer list with just the 3 animation layers is not to hard as in my Multi-layer-actions script
before is set to the layerlist before creating layers
after is set to the layerlist after creating stroke layers
bling is set to the stroke layerlist to add bling to
(map (lambda (x) (if (not (member x before)) (cons x bling))) after)

Saulgoode please bail me out if I got this wrong

Either you have misunderstood what I was getting at or I am misunderstanding what you are getting at. Not sure which.

Suppose I have an image with 10 layers. I want to animate a selection. So as I see it, I would have to do one of the following.

1) Merge all 10 layers to one layer before creating my animation from a selection (not optimal, as it destroys my working xcf file with all the individual layers)

2) Create the animation from a single selected layer, which then becomes 3 animated layers (or a layer list). Then, I would still have to properly interleave the other 9 layers with the animation.

Nether of these options are all that good.

yes I drifted into the 'nether world' with that as it departs from the functions of what a Gradient Stroke should accomplish

I love the Gradient stroke script just as it is; it is simple, effective and easy to use as is. To complicate it with the bling script I think would not work well.

I upgraded to version 1.1. I'm still learning to use.

That seems more useful than I thought at first! :coolthup

Thx GnuTux and thx Graechan :tyspin

Thanks, Molly. That looks great!! :bigthup

The only changes from here on out will be for the better. :hehe

This script has now been updated to V1.2.

Added back in the original 8 directions plus "Angle & Scale" as an option in the "Blend Direction" drop down.

Settings "Stroke Width" to zero directs the script to perform a gradient fill.
