I like how golden Lyle came out. Which script did you use to make this image?

EDIT

Forget it!

They are all excellent image results and I am downloading all those files so I can play too.

I enjoy your scripts Dinasset and find them very useful in helping me learn/play with GIMP. Thank you and well done, again!

Thank you Odin and Wallace, you are always so kind.
To make "a Golden Lyle" you can use Dinasset's script and texture metal gold. You have so many wonderful different outcomes to do.
It's awesome all of them!

I just started playing around and thought I should share my first issues. I can see there are lot's of possibilities with this script and a tweak or two.

These are the errors and warning on first run with all defaults.
============
GIMP Error
Calling error for procedure 'gimp-pattern-get-pixels':
Pattern 'wood-1.jpg' not found

Creates a woodcut-carved effect Warning
Error while executing script-fu-woodcut-carved-effect:

Error: (<unknown> : 145971575) eval: unbound variable: script-fu-lew-engrave

GIMP Warning
Plug-In 'Creates a woodcut-carved effect' left image undo in inconsistent state, closing open undo groups.
============
Shouldn't the default pattern be, pine.pat?

After the script has run one or more procedures seems not to have completed properly.
Screenshot of initial view of result from first run all defaults.
Image

After the initial result above if I select any layer or use New from visible or Item visibility the results changed to the image below. This might have something to do with the 'undo" error.
Image

Linux, Gimp 2.8.14, G'MIC 1.6.0.2

=============
Redo with original image and playing with options. :cool

I provided as attachments all the textures used in the script (the default is one of those)
Could you please download them and put into your patterns folder? thanks
(my fault, sorry: in the announcement I didn't say that before, I simply provided the attachments)

also: I didn't specify that there is as prerequisite the script "engrave.scm", here attached, sorry

Attachment:
engrave.scm [12.72 KiB]
Downloaded 295 times

edit: I should have reported what PatDavid said in his tutorial:

On this new new layer (should be called “Visible” by default), run the GIMP filter:
Filters → Artistic → Engrave
If you don't have the filter, you can find the .scm at the registry here.

sorry...

just to complete the answers to all comments by Odinbc, I'm quite convinced that the apparent error which leads to the fact that "... the script ... seems not to have completed properly" is the absence of the engrave script above.
Odin, in case you get again that message (after having loaded into your gimp folders the textures required and the script referenced) let me know, I will re-check.
Thanks

Very nice Issabella. I like the dog ones that look like a tree stump sliced.

Dinnaset if your script has a dependency on script-fu-lew-engrave then why not include this with your script

Graechan,
as usual I'm not so expert to be able in doing myself what you suggest; if you don't mind and like to help me as in my previous script, you could provide the amended version.
Thanks a lot

Testing using defaults, now with engrave.scm added, errors below. I'm testing systematically so no additional textured or patterns added to Gimp yet. The reason being I cannot find 'wood-1.jpg'. I only found a 'wood-3.jpg' and 'wood-7.jpg' in 'Texture used.7z' zip and where should these textures be saved?

==============
GIMP Error (with engrave.scm, no additional textures)
Calling error for procedure 'gimp-pattern-get-pixels':
Pattern 'wood-1.jpg' not found

Creates a woodcut-carved effect Warning
Error while executing script-fu-woodcut-carved-effect:

Error: (<unknown> : 144275081) Procedure execution of gimp-pattern-get-info failed on invalid input arguments: Pattern 'wood-1.jpg' not found

GIMP Warning
Plug-In 'Creates a woodcut-carved effect' left image undo in inconsistent state, closing open undo groups.
==============
Latest result with defaults.

Odin,
wood-1 included in pattern folder wood1.7z, posted at the end of all my "complicated" attachments
anyhow, in the revised version, I will change the default to "pine", as you suggested;
unzip and place all the textures provided (in the long series of my posts) into your (user) patterns folder
thanks for your testing

edit: obviously, to simply avoid the error, you can only insert wood-1 in your folder, then select one of those you have already...the full set is required only if you like to test all the examples;
as an extreme, if you do not want to download/insert my textures, for now you can simply duplicate one of your existing patterns and call the copy just wood-1.jpg

Done and sent to you in a PM, also your default pattern setup is not quite right

Last test: All defaults, DIEGO_Woodcut-Carving-Effect with engrave.scm and wood-1.jpg (user patterns folder).
No Errors. :bigthup

Image

I'm not sure why the 'undo' error went away (after adding wood-1.jpg) but everything seems to work error free for me now.

** I suggest using *.pat file format for all supporting patterns/textures.

Dinasset your patterns listed here should be all Gimp defaults Gimp has enough textured patterns to make it interesting
("Wood" "Bricks" "Leather" "Plain Metal" "Rusty Metal")

Just started using the script and this thread has already answered a couple of my queries.

@Issabella - I just love your 'outcomes' everything you produce and post here seems to have a beautiful, calm sensitivity emanating from the image; terrific!
