Introduce me from Indonesia GIMP lovers. I have a problem installing GIMP PSPI plugin 2.8.4 in ubuntustudio 13:04 - 32 bit. writing "photoshop plugin settings" does not appear. I've followed the installation instructions but does not run. I am very grateful if anyone can help me.

Thanks Graechan, I will try your suggestion. Actually, I use two operating system, Ubuntu Studio 13:04 as the main OS and Windows 8 trial to trial and error. PSPI runs great on Windows. but it does not run smoothly in Ubuntu Studio. I also included a new user to Linux, so I will try your suggestion.

You will need to install wine first. PSPI needs wine to run in Linux because the 8bf files PSPI initializes are windows based executable files.

OK Graechan and Rod. I will tell you that I use GIMP 2.8.2 and Wine 1.4 is already in Ubuntu Studio 13.04 .. I just want to PSPI can run on my Ubuntu. Regarding the plugin to use I would do next, which is important PSPI can be used. I've tried to upgrade GIMP 2.8.6 and Wine 1.5, but PSPI still not running.

You should have a "Photoshop Plug-in Settings" menu item under Filters. I don't see it though.
You could try placing the PSPI linux binary in your lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins folder.

That's the thing, I want to "Photoshop Plug-in Settings" menu appears under the Filters menu, but it does happen. I've put the PSPI and pspi.exe.so lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins folder to folder.
Okay, I get information from http://www.instructables.com/id/Photoshop-Plugins-In-The-GIMP/step2/Install-the-GIMP-PhotoShop-Plug-In-PSPI/ that is:
"..... Copy the two files PSPI and pspi.exe.so to your personal GIMP plug-ins folder, NOT the system plug-ins folder. Be sure GIMP knows about this folder in the Preferences - Folders dialog. For me , it is ~ / .gimp-2.4/plug-ins /
Test if the install worked by launching GIMP. Once it loads, check the Xtns menu for a new entry: Photoshop Plug-In Settings ...
If the entry is not there, then you are probably somewhat screwed unless you have, or have access to, a CD containing the Photoshop 6 Photoshop SDK. If you do, then you can download the source package, and follow the instructions in the README.Linux file inside the unpacked source tree to install PSPI from source. I did not have to do this, so I can not help you here. But, I do know PSPI will not compile without the pssdk6 (so says the README) ..... "
Now, I do not know how to work it. Any ideas?

Wish i could help you but i have never compiled PSPI before. Is this the compressed file you downloaded and installed?

Linux uses the PSPI script included to run the PSPI binary file.

If you have further install issues, you can run a WIN32 bit version of GIMP directly through WINE (the windows version of GIMP), and just use the PSPI win32 plugin. Use this version of your GIMP expressly for photo shop plug-ins.
