"Just save your final tittle as a 32-bit png, then overlay it on a video track".
Thanks racer, that would be easier. I finally figured-out how to make animations with Gimp-GAP. It was not easy at all.
There are video tutorials but mostly in Italian.
It could make a transparent title fly out from the centre of the screen....

Hello guys, would it be possible to find this script available on some other link and compatible with versions 2.10?

The link in the first post doesn't work anymore.

I'm not sure if it will for you, but it works for me in 2.10

LayerFX has made this and many old scripts largely obsolete.

Agreed, LayerFX used to be one of my favorite plug-ins but it acted weird in 2.8 if you grouped the different effects.
Haven't played with it in 2.10.

jappaloe1963, perhaps with this version the gurus can make the necessary updates and revive this script.

Nidhogg, Using version 2.10.21 Samj's portable (Win10) the script downloaded through the link you provided generates two error messages and does not work.

Racer-x, I agree with Nidhogg that LayerFX has some strange aspects. Even though I selected the text (alpha for selection), LayerFX applies Highlight over the entire layer. So I need to manually invert the selection and clear the excess.

Thx guys!

It is line 114 The ambient value for bump-map. Attached works with Gimp 2.10.20 which is getting better at being backward compatible. Do not expect it to work with Gimp 2.10.14...

IMHO Just as easy to use the bump map directly.

Hello Rich2005!

It worked light and fast. :clap
I really liked the Highlight-Blur option.
Another good result with this script is to use the layer in Subtract mode, which gives a high relief effect. :bump

Thank you very much Rich2005! :bigthup

Set myself a little challenge, some highlighted text, with a bit of a glow. Can I do that in less than a minute with provided Gimp tools.

Just about. https://i.imgur.com/VMDkq5y.mp4

A reminder, Gimp 2.10 has great on canvas tools, you can see the effect as it is adjusted. It will be yours, not something that has been set into a script. A script might be convenient but please experiment a little.

Agreed, scripts and plugins can be a crutch. I generally only use about six of them, the rest are just taking up space. The Gimp supplied filters are very good and I use them a lot.

Rel4 is for 2-10 only because when gimp changed the bump-map plugin to GEGL they changed the 'ambient lighting' range from 0-255 to 0-1

I tried getting the script to run on text and I get nothing. It runs but it doesn't produce an outcome.

I am using the latest version:

What am I doing wrong?

You probably have to use colors other than black. This is a highlight filter for a text effect or other stuff that you need to highlight a little more. Once you have a text effect, use the filter to get a better highlight.

Graechan - thanks for the update.

Mackenzieh - I tried the filter changing several parameters (e.g.highlight offset as above) and could not fault it. I also tried out black text on a white background and yes, the highlight does not stand out as much, but it worked. Sorry can't help you here.

That was it. I just needed to use a different text color. Thanks Pocholo.
