In this set i like the "after" the best. It seems to have the most depth
though it depends on the application of the image

I use these scripts as source material for other scripts. While doing so, I found that the GEGL unsharp-mask function doesn't work as intended. While GEGL documents one set of variables:

The GIMP GEGL's graph window reports another set of variable names: 'std-dev' for 'radius' and 'scale' for 'amount'.

I was able to get the GEGL unsharp-mask function to work as intended with the GEGL graph variables:
"unsharp-mask std-dev=%f scale=%f threshold=%f"

Lula - thanks for your help; my first attempts below, but as always with these filters choosing the photos for attention is a challenge. I think you ladies have some key intuition in this area. Anyway, much quicker than portrait painting
