Yes, each one has his/her own opinion. I love both results. I see that large images give quite better results.

I tried the new version and it works fine. Your results on portraits are nice Issabella and Diego. Here is a try with regular tile and layer original on top with value mode, 50 %.
I took the photo before the madonne was restored by the artist.

Today I prepared another small ancillary filter for enhancing the colours where required ("dumb" images?):
PlusColourContrast
What does it?
It finds the predominant "colour" value of each pixel in the source image, and increases it by the requested percentage while reducing the other two colours. To limit (not avoid) the distinction of the pixel values by a difference of just +1 or -1, it reduces preliminarly the values to the corresponding 1/16 of the original value.
Then classifies the pixel into one of 6 classes: Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Cyan, Magenta depending on the max values found in R, G, B and replaces the source values with the modified (increased/decreased) values, in a duplicated layer.
Finally applies a large blur to limit local pixellation.
