If Gimp's team allowed Unified Transform and or Pesperctive Transform to also call "gegl:color-overlay" and "gegl:gaussian-blur" this plugin would not be needed. What I am doing is a sloppy excuse for not having those options in transform tools.
You mean, not having those options in "Drop Shadow"?

If I may, and maybe it can help you to take in count this real life effect now, instead of re-writing your plugin later...
When I do those type of drop shadow, I do NOT use the Gaussian blur filter in the filters menu, but instead I use the Filters > Blur > Focus blur... to get a smooth transition of the
increasing blur from start to end,
Because the shadow further away is, more blurred should it be, it's a real life physical property
