I have been trying to get some good shots of snow falling...however, I just have a cheap-ie digital and it doesn't do the job.
I discovered the filter in GMIC called simple local contrast. By using that, I was able to capture the heavy snowfall from last weekend. Works great

Very nice. G'MIC is full of nice filters, I don't even know them all in details :)
