I wrote the script above as an aid to creating space scenes, then found it threw up some colourful shapes depending on the base image

If you wish to try it its located at File/Create/Patterns/Paint mess

It was designed to work on horizontal coloured bands with the top and bottom of the image the same colour as the intended background colour

An example with a black background

The first image was created to work on

The second image is after the columns of pixels are moved

The third image is after Polar coordinates are run

If you wish to save both versions you have to make sure the Polar coordinates box is checked, then run and save, next undo three steps in the history dialogue, then flatten and save

I’ve tested the script but I’m sure I won’t have covered all bases, if it does crash I’d be grateful to know

Thanks for looking

Steve you have forgotten to reset the context settings with (gimp-context-push) and (gimp-context-pop) also your flatten command could be an option but is still a great script to play with, this time I used it without flatten to do more to the text

Thanks for the feedback, appreciated

If I’m honest I didn’t forget about push/pop, it was a case of ignorance is bliss  , I hadn’t known of them to be able to use them. As I tend to learn about subjects in a haphazard fashion rather than methodically I don’t always do things in the correct way, and there are gaps in my knowledge that a methodical learner wouldn’t have.

One reason for posting scripts is I value the feedback as it helps me to improve, and so looking into push/pop is top of my gimp to do list.

And so far so good, I was expecting an avalanche of crash reports
