Hi, Kevin, You certainly got a good response here. I especially like He4rty's "Shroud of Turin" .

no, its all handmade

i was a fan of stencil graffiti, long before that Obey poster was made

i wanted to try a duotone thing, with two coloured layers and a greyscale layermask
but then i began manipulating that layermask

another one (some chap from the GDR, painted in oil)

Thank you all so much

There's a few aspects there that I can't use (adding text for example), but even in those cases there are still ideas that will help.

Thanks again.

Kevin

I think it was Graechan's latest version of Pencil Shade.

The effect basically relies on outlines and G'MIC's dream smoothing.

There is a mini-tute on how to get the wisps effect here. Graechan was kind enough to incorporate it into his Pencil Shade script.

The challenge has now finished voting
so here's what I entered:

Based on this:

IMGP5530_from_raw_sml.jpg
IMGP5530_from_raw_sml.jpg [ 33.71 KiB | Viewed 1601 times ]
With a G'MIC painting layer on top in Value mode
G'MIC Tetris effect layer in Grain Merge
and the unaltered picture on the bottom layer.

As usual the challenge had a very high standard of entries: Self Portrait VIII

Thanks to you all again.

Kevin
