Thought I would try to render these again; it's the season for them so why not. lol

This time, I'm taking advantage of more then a few gmic presets (stencil and skeleton). The majority of the effect was thank to skeleton. :)

I love how the web came out, very cool detail when it's enlarged.

Thanks for the comment. The speckled color effect is easy. Just create a solid black fill and run rgb color noise setting the layer property to color and reduce opacity to taste. The other noise addition I cheated (non-GIMP and no longer free PS filter) from ImpressionFX. I keep it around since it adds speckled effects better then any other method I've tried. :)

Look at the default settings for Contours>skeleton ek22 and that pretty much will get you the main effect. The nuance is just too much to explain. I actually ran pattern>stencil (bw setting) on the original version before skeleton to give more details. :)

I do love that skeleton preset and have used it in some of my fractals.

Clever Lyle. Don't mind spider webs but hate, hate, hate spiders. Not looking forward to any visitors anytime soon.

Reminds me of an old pic I saw once of the web of a spider under the influence of LSD. Like your 'psychedelic' spider colors. I'm not promoting the use of psychedelics, by the way.

Yeah, but the worse drug you can feed a spider is caffeine as I recall the study. lol

I see we was both simultaneously inspired by arachnids, even if with so different outcomes

The first is cool but i specially like the second one

You got very good result with the skeleton filter ,i tried long but i found the lines i got too aliased and so oversharp that no trick seems working to soften them

but yours look cool

Yes; the aliasing can be an issue, so my secrete weapon fixed that; too bad it's no longer free. :)
