It was no so hot on the hammock under the shadow of a big tree , but even if were clouds none was covering the sun that was stiking all around...but then started a subtle rain most dissolving in iridescent vapour even before touch the soil and were dancing raibows too created by the sun the rain the vapours and a fresh whirling breeze

I was in a almost daydreaming state and almost hypnotized to see that curtains of iridiscent vapours and dancing rainbows open ,one by one to reveal a familiar , even if a bit alien , figure.

it was Howard that has a great unconscious talent for spectacular entries , even if was long that we didn't meet i was no surprised by his visit , he should have received my message and curious to test my new optical device.

Now without entering in too technical details the device apply in a new fashion ancient knowledges about magic mirrors commune in several pre Nubian civilizations

And works more or less with a camera but a camera that could percive all the entities and creatures that usually remain just a bit out our visual field or perception

Howard proposed a wood close to Salem but i knew a closer location very close to my home, a little wood close to a cluster of Roman ruin , and Howard agree.

He is much more sensitive with me without his help i would not be able to set the lens in the right position and with the right field

well this the first result of our experiment and a homage a dear friend from my childhood ,Howard P. Lovercraft

I like these. I've always loved using symmetry filters and kaleidoscope filters on photos.

Gimp could use a good "Mirroring filter". I think a nice one could be scripted. :)
And if it was scripted in Python it could have preview as does DD's (Bevel Emboss).

Have you tried G'MIC, Arrays & tiles / Array [mirrored]?

everything was done with G'MIC, Arrays & tiles / Array [mirrored], from a photo i took the previous winter close to my home
So many from a single photo because flipping rotating or cropping the original before mirror (all options in the filter) creates endless variations with a always seamless result

i didn't this as pattern but i believe they may be also used cool (and ,yes , werid )organic map for 3d i will try later with m3d

in gmic there is another cool mirror filter that allow to mirror on oblique symmetry axis

I should take a break now but at soon more i would post more and , in case you are curious for each series i have also the original poto..oh, thinking better i should have even the xcf , with the original photo as BG layer and all the layer above with the gmic setting embedded in the name (a very undervalued feature allow to recover the GMIC settings used from layers names IF gmic output option was set on new layers) ..humm are gigantic files ,3900x2600 xcf but i may scale down ..if requested in case let me know , also about the size (original or scaled down at 1200 width as on this topic )

PS oopss i forgot to submit before leave , so i do now, soon the follow up of this series

They look very weird and unsettling. Surprising what simple things done to a picture could completely change its character.

That my speciality too... much merit of a fantastic school teacher i had in primary school , he teach how subtle minimal retouch may dramatically alter the perception of the work... then i used often for "politic" illustrations (you know the trick you pick up a famous poster of the politic opponent and by changing a tiny detail you reverse the whole sense
