TEXT TO PATH?

GIMP Version: 2.8.4
Operating System: Windows
GIMP Experience: Beginner Level

Hi all. Please excuse my ignorance here, as I`m new to using Gimp. Ive been watching a Tutorial on how to create an Arched Text. Followed everything ok, intil it came to the point where I add my text to the path ive created. In my text tool box, I don`t have an option at the bottom for text to path? the last option I have at the bottom is language? Any help much appreciated

Yes you must remember there are two text and path options
1) Text Along PATH = your text FOLLOWS the PATH.
2) Text To PATH = Your text outline becomes a path.

I am assuming because you want your TEXT to follow an arch you want Text Along PATH.

GIMP has a ready made script to place text along a elliptic PATH.
File>Create>Logos>Text Circle.

Now you need only go to Layer>Transform>Rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise.

Then align as needed.

Yeah, that is a logo
