I went mad on G'mics truchet filter. I ran it on a Square blend and put the image in a mask on another layer and changed mode to darken only.

I had to redo the Crinkled Tinfoil tut. I installed the Settings Cleaner script forgetting that I had done the Curves settings from the PDF manually and hadn’t saved them with a name. I then decided to change the foil colour but forgot to check the Bucket tool setting which was on Pattern. But it turned out all right in the end.

I ran the concentric circles A filter and then mapped it to a sphere. I tried to get the pole at the top by orientating but found it made a heart-shaped hole so I filled the hole.

I sent a couple of cartoon birds into a spin.

kimba: nice work with the g'micfilters! i really like the truchet square and the birds in spin. what exactly did you use to make that last one, if you don't mind sharing?

Anmal, I ran "Concentric Circles a" in G'mic, then Duplicated, Desaturated the duplicate and set it to multiply. Made a new visible layer-I love that feature- and used Gaussian blur. I added the birds on another layer and blurred them separately as I wanted to control how much blur they got. I hope this is clear enough for you.

Thanks to Anmal I got some new brushes. I took one for a spin and duplicated it then combined the duplicate with G'MIC Fractalise. I then set the duplicate to divide. It put a nice subtle effect on the plain paisley.

kimba: oh, fun! i have toi try that myself now, if they have fractalise on g'mic online (no g'mic download possible on this antiquity that i for lack of better word call a computer). but i wonder a bit about those jagged edges - tell me, were they there from the start? i was so careful in making the brushes and made them rather big so they wouldn't get jagged too easily, but maybe i should go through them again? it might be a result of the g'mic filter too of course, i haven't tried fractalise in a while.

The brushes are fine.The jagged edge is part of the gmic fractalise effect I think. My laptop is starting to crawl when I load gimp as I think I have too many brushes and filters but it's hard to resist making or loading more.

@Kimba, you might want to try ofnuts addonmanager for your brushes. You can select a group of brushes at a time without having to open all your brushes every time you open Gimp. I don't think filters would be a problem though.

Thanks Molly, but I can't get addon manager working in Gimp on my linux mint. Have tried all the suggestions and nothing but an empty scripts folder shows in help.
However, I have found that Gimp uses the folder names as filters so that is a bonus.
