Go GIMP! I support gimp.org's stand about Source Forge.

I've made my feelings clear about how I feel about Source Forge in past posts. :hoh

Yeah; when I was installing an Open Source PDF distiller for a friend, I got his system infected with Vosteran. Got so mad that I posted the thread below. :)

This is a comment for all members.

SourceForge has been a minefield for a few years now and we respectfully suggest sharing any SourceForge links privately off the forum.

I just found out that /. (Slashdot) and SourceForge are owned by the same company.

Interesting. I used to follow /. but haven't much in recent years.

You can hardly find any software download site that doesn't side-load crapware. It's how they make money.

What happens when you install the top 10 apps from download.com?

I think the damage is done; the Internet community does not forgive readily.

I've been avoiding SourceForge but noticed this a day or so ago when I was checking on a program I already had. The fact that it's still not fully functioning is a huge problem for all of the developers still there. I can see a mass exodus for sure. We are fortunate Gimp dev decided to move on. :2thup

It appears that it is back up now; I just went to sourceforge.net.

I think that's just the home page you're looking at O. (That's handled by the front-end server and didn't go down.)

If you use the search box on that page to search for "gimp" (or just about anything else), or try using a link to a repository on SourceForge, I think you'll still get a 404 error.

That's a fantastic resource of Ofnut's, I'm glad it's back.
