OK, I had to jump in and give it a try anyway. From the "ancient" tuorial I (semi) proudly present.... Paisley in Gold!

I added one step. The gold part was done on transparent background, and I didn't like the final effect, so I added:
Filters->G'MIC->Light&Shadows->Relief light (used default settings + opacity as heightmap)

[EDIT: Wow, I shoulda scaled that down...live and learn I guess.]

More true to the name....
Just changed the mode of paisley layer to value
And then one where I had some fun with Slinky (by Ofnuts) (And toned down the way to bright Gold a little. Pretty, but glaring...)

Where have all the Paislies gone? Yes, I know the reference well! It is from a while back. But then, as someone said, "so am I."

Pat625: What filter are you using for the sparkly effect. Obviously it's in the animation layers, but how was it started? (Some form of noise I am assuming, but which one at which levels?)

:jumpclap :hi5 :clap nice job in this thread, everyone! nice to come back in after a break and see new fresh paislies :). i want to comment personally on all of it but it would take forever.

edit: never mind if it takes forever, i want to comment!

oldmangrumpy: i love your posts as usual, it's all so fun and creative and if there was a furry, paisley shaped and small animal i'd seriously consider getting a pet :).

pat25: beautifully made sparkly paisleys! looks like you are friends with the path tool now. i liked the paisley shark too.

liz-ard: thats a cool and inventive paisley pic. did you use a fractal?

jazzon: oooh, someone's still using the tutorial :)! i like your experiments, it's very annoying that i can't use any of ofnut's tools - your slinky looks great. and now i have to try the relief light filter on my backgrounds as well.

I use GnuTux's Bling Logo Script. It has a lot of options and can be used for selections also. See the support thread and follow through for the updates that are given in the thread. You'll find it at:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=72. Makes doing animated sparkles easy and fun to do. :paint

Anmal - thank you and I love that new pathed paisley shape and the paisley universe.

Ditto Pat's comments - you were missed :(

Your continued encouraging words mean a lot to people posting in GC.

pat625: thank you :).
oldmangrumpy: thank you, that's nice to hear. edit: and i keep forgetting to write it, but i think you're all underestimating the power of pete seeger's (and joe hickerson's) work - at least here in sweden new generations still learn that song, it's a classic.

If I may digress. . .

Where have all the flowers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the flowers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the flowers gone?
Young girls have picked them everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the young girls gone, long time passing?
Where have all the young girls gone, long time ago?
Where have all the young girls gone?
Gone for husbands everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the husbands gone, long time passing?
Where have all the husbands gone, long time ago?
Where have all the husbands gone?
Gone for soldiers everyone
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the soldiers gone, long time passing?
Where have all the soldiers gone, long time ago?
Where have all the soldiers gone?
Gone to graveyards, everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

Where have all the graveyards gone, long time passing?
Where have all the graveyards gone, long time ago?
Where have all the graveyards gone?
Gone to flowers, everyone.
Oh, when will they ever learn?
Oh, when will they ever learn?

It seems I heard Peter, Paul & Mary sing it mostly. I was surprised to find out how many people and groups had a rendition of it.

pat625: peter, paul and mary sang the first version i ever heard, but my dad sang the best one - or at least the one i loved most, which isn't necessarily the same thing... this is turning into a real nostalgia thread :hehe !

All I did was ask where have all the paisleys gone .... well they are back. Here you are Anmal, 'path blend' and your fabulous paisley patterns.
