It has been a long time since I have tried Krita because the last time I tried, the Win version seemed very buggy on my computer. However, I had a look at a few videos on Youtube including one by a professional Photoshop user who raved about it and I decided to give it another go. I am now very much in love!!!

That is very good Eris, I had krita but it looked to be quite difficult to learn.

the portrait is very nice (I don't know you personally, only Anmal may say if resembling...)
colours look very "pale" on my screen, maybe we have different screen colours setups

It's actually easier than Gimp to learn and lovely to paint with. It has tools similar to Photoshop such as adjustment layers and a lovely transform tool that rotates moves and sizes easily. I'm sure there is a grid transform tool too but I haven't come across it yet.

I would say it is the best likeness I have ever achieved. The colours are a little pale - I am too cautious when I paint - but screen setup might also be causing it.

even better -still on my screen- (added some "green" to reduce the blueisch appearance I have)
maybe it doesn't look OK on yours...

erisian: a very well painted portrait and very true to life - i mentioned the shade of the eye colour before, but i don't recall what it looked like in the photo you used. in any case, i've loved all your krita stuff so far, keep at it :)!

molly: i agree he has come a long way, but personally i thank all the swedish cakes he's been eating. sweden has the best cakes in the world, you know. they're world famous for boosting creativity ;) ...

dinasset: i like the second of your versions best, but on myscreen they both look far too high in contrast, the brush strokes get a bit too harsh. the original comes across a bit pale on my screen too, but not on erisian's.

Like the result, but have to admit the first of Dinasset's redo looks best to me (second being a bit too strong). :)

Dinasset - thank you. I have tried a more subtle levels adjustment and repaired some stuff that nobody seems to have noticed from my first version.

Great likeness...at least from the point of view of someone who has only seen you in picture form, lol.
