I was thinking that the photo I manipulated was a good test. Much easier if there something being removed on the same background. The knife is primarily on the rock, but also hanging off each end.

If you are running the 1.6.8 pre-beta, you paint the area that you want in solid red and the preset takes care of the rest Sallyanne. Older versions of G'MIC will give you errors. :)

In my original post I said I was. So i checked. I am using the 1.6.8 pre release #112615)

Must have been tired and overlooked that Sallyanne. Not sure why it's not working in your case. I am also running GIMP 2.8.16 now; don't think that an older version of GIMP might be at fault, but, you never know. :)

Hi Ronounours, thanks for this new filter.
I think Inpaint "patch-based" and "multi-scale" are not working on my system. No error messages, it just does not do its job. Kubuntu Linux 64bits, G'MIC 1.6.8 pre-release #112615

YAFU are you using a 'proper' red for your mask with the newest filter. I wasn't getting any errors either and that did the trick.

I asked David if it could be my gimp 2.8.10 32 bit and he said no.

then I suspect the algorithm has found no masked pixels on your image. Maybe you are using the wrong color to define the mask ? The color must be exactly red #FF0000, and nothing else (so, with no anti-aliasing).

May have to ask him re the other filter. I had given up on that one as I am getting nothing either, is probably a simple error on my part though.

Oh! Thanks sallyanne.
I was doing the opposite, I was copying the code of the chosen red color in GIMP into G'MIC, instead of copying the color code from G'MIC (#FF0000) into GIMP  If I remember correctly, that way it worked well before with the "patch-based".
