I'm just wondering how to get rid of the visible pixels in a photo before using it? Any ideas? The photo I'm trying to use is this one: Image

I first used G'MIC-Repair-Smoothing (anisotrophic) which took care of most of the pixelation. Then used gimp Gaussian blur.

You may wish to sharpen a little.

That's an interesting way. I hadn't thought of doing it like that. I will definitely give it a shot. Thanks! :)

Yep 2-ton. It's Days's Steve and Kayla. I'm using this photo in a banner for someone who requested one on my graphics forum.

Why are you trying to enlarge a small picture? Wouldn't you be better stealing a larger version of the picture to start with: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/302374562451265144/

I think you're in the wrong thread. The thread you're looking for is this one: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13412
That's one about enlarging small photos. The photo I had, wasn't small. It was pixelated when I saved it from where I got it. I was trying to get rid of the pixels and I think I did just that. :)

No, I meant to post it in this thread.

I think I just don't understand what you are trying to achieve.

As you said you were trying to make a banner for someone, I was suggesting that in order to make the highest quality output you start with the highest quality input. So my question is why try to manipulate the poor quality image when a better version is readily available?

regards
Kevin

I just clicked on the link I was given so I tried manipulating the photo once I saved it so and I think it came out pretty good. I hadn't seen a better quality of the image, so I did the best I could with what I had to work with.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Mackenzie

I was asking the same question myself 2-ton, and to me it appears to be a small type of Christmas ornament, or decoration of some kind.
In the photo I also noticed that there are Christmas decorations in the background.
I put 2 & 2 together and that's my best guess.
