You are right iarga, sometimes we can see some more details after taking the photos. I have chosen these other photos from the same zone in the previous picture so that you can see the real surrounded of the poppy.

I have tried to write something about using masks, which I have attached as a .PDF file.

The latest two beautiful photographs.
For the picture of the poppies by the river I have only enhanced the colours a little and used wavelet sharpening.
The daisies I used a Luminosity Mask (MMM) to increase the brightness and saturation of the mid-tones, without altering the brightest and darkest parts of the image.
Also wavelet sharpening.
(The more subtle use of these masks!)

David, I don't have Saulgoode's Luminosity Masks script, so I've tried to download it. It comes in an open code, which I have copied and saved in notebook as .scm but I can't see it in Filters - Generic. I'm sure I did any mistake. How can I get that script? Thank you so much.

I have attached a copy of the script.
I use only Linux operating system, but I think that in Windows you have to put the script in:
C:\Users\your-name\.gimp-2.8\scripts

You may have to close and re-open GIMP before it appears.

If the information above is incorrect, I am sure someone will rapidly correct me!

I also have Tin Tran's Luminosity Masks. I think they are the same, or very similar, to the saulgoode masks but presented in a different way. I came to the saulgoode masks first, so can use those will little thought.

Before I retired, my work involved writing technical manuals, but this is quite different.

Here is another photograph for anyone to play with.
These flowers I noticed in the garden today. Each blue flower, with its yellow centre is no more than 2mm. across!
So I quickly grabbed a close-up lens for my telephoto and took a picture.
I have scaled it to a smaller size for uploading.

My result on the tiny flowers - nothing special - increased the colour saturation, wavelet sharpening and cropped.

Changed background and played with G'MIC Artistic stuff.
For the frame Blur & Shadow another great script.

Nice results shown. I like a lot to see so beautiful details of the flower. David, you took a very good photo.

More beautiful photographs! Perhaps I should spend less time in Greece and learn something of Aragón.

For the picture of the roses I used the G'MIC Extract Foreground and then Curves on the foreground image, followed by wavelet sharpening.

The other picture I rotated by -1.59 degrees and then used "Heal Transparency" so that I didn't lose any picture area.
Duplicated the image two times. Top layer I used saulgoode Luminosity Mask "MM" and curves to brighten the trees and the other side of the river.
Middle layer I used Luminosity Mask "LL" so that I could darken the sky and the water.

Whether it is better or worse is for others to decide!

Beautiful results on both pics. I'll practise your steps. I have a notebook where I keep the whole advice and practical steps related to photography told in this thread, where I'm learning so much.
