Thanks. I purposely made it that way. The flag in the background has color, yet I left it dark. I wanted it faded on the eagle, as colorful detracted from the eagle itself.

The rodilius pics I've attempted do not come out anything like what I see here. Is there some prep work to do on the picture before running rodilius? I mean, should the background be black, or should there be something about the color or resolution of the picture? Or maybe I just don't have the settings right.

It's important to keep in mind that The Warrior is using Fractalius, a PAID plug-in only available for Adobe Photoshop.

There is, in fact, lots of prep-work that goes into creating ones like these.

Here's my xcf so you can see some of my steps.

I used some filters like tone mapping, freaky details, levels. Then I played around the setting in rodilius until I found a pleasing result. I think I ran freaky detail on the rodiliusified layer again, too

Don't really come here anymore, but noticed this bumped up. Fractalius is a paid plug in for P/S. I looked real hard, and didn't pay a dime for it. Nice work on the eagle, btw. Very cool.

I have the of Fractalius Demo Version in Gimp, but it applies a watermark.
The larger the image the more watermarks.
Also the pspi plug-in needs to be installed and configured to run any photoshop plug-ins.

So the basic idea is to whittle the original picture down to the more coarse colors and details. Then the rodilius makes those come to life. Correct? The xcf was definitely interesting. I'm going to revisit a couple of my attempts to see if I can't improve them. Thanks.

I really don't go anywhere for it. I liked this site, but in my opinion, it has become redundant. Same 'ol stuff over, and over, and over. Don't see near as much creativity anymore. Also, liked it better when Gnu Tux was still here.
