Wow! Wallace, you have a lot of nifty Splash screens.
I'm getting a bit motivated here to try and do one myself.
Do they have to be a certain size?
Any other specific parameters?

Thanks Pat625.
There aren't any real parameters or size restraints that I'm aware of.
I tried to keep my splash screen images.
Close to the size of the splash that comes with Gimp.
The size of Gimp's native splash screen is 557x346.

I make mine 600x400 which works well. All they say about size is 300x200 or larger. Here's the GIMP Galleries and information page about splash screens.

What is a splash screen? Or are you inferring to an intro?

Yes racer-x.
That's exactly what it is,
the intro screen seen when GIMP is launched.

...

For example: This image below is GIMP's 2.8 splash screen.

Here's one for ya.

It has a transparent background.
However,
when GIMP loads this splash-screen,
it'll fill the transparency with Black.
Unless you fill it with something else.

My splash screen doesn't stay up long enough to notice. If I did want to make my own splash screen, where would I put it?

Thanks Pat625, now I know were to put my custom splash screens. Unfortunately (?) the splash screen only shows for about 1/10 of a second. Blink and you'll miss it. I guess it would be more useful in a slower computer.

I corrected today, and in black/white background.
I think it has become more elegant.
