Beautiful work! I just need to know how to set a font size. Even at 1000x1000 blank image, making either a spiral or a circle, the letters are so huge that they look like just a pile of letters. Any hints??

You can't set font size.
It's automatically dependent upon how long your text is and how long your path is.
If you have very few letters and a long path it'll be really large font
If you have many characters and a short path it'll be really small font in order to fit them on the path.

I did the spiral in Inkscape. It has a nice spiral tool.

Image

The spiral has handles at each end which can be used to wind or unwind the spiral.

In Inkscape, save the spiral as Spiral.svg. Then in Gimp, open your paths dialogue, right click and select Import path. The svg opens as a path in Gimp

After that it is just trial and error with the amount of text and the length of the spiral to get the look you want. The more text you have the smaller the font size will be.

I'm sure there are spiral scripts for Gimp but I don't have one.

Thank you so much for your useful explanation about spiral, Blighty II . I don't have Inkscape, so I'll try to get one spiral nice in png if I can. I like yours a lot with the text. :tyspin :coolthup

Issabella you may still need ofnuts reverse strokes to get the text running in the desired direction

Thanks Muchly Tran!! I had the default text that the script uses (short) and a very long path. I went with a long path and a longer text. I love the result!

PhotoMaster, you did an awesome shaped lettering. :clap
I have the scripts that Graechan pointed to me but I don't know how to use them correctly. I'll try it more times. :) :)

I haven't tested with vectors defining where the the character width is.
And kerning.
It turns out there are bugs related to these so I fixed them in version 3.

before fix:

after fix:

and tested different positions making sure nothing else is buggy.

Nice one.
Sure you'll use it on your albums to introduce the various sections...

I just wanted to play a bit, because I forgot about this script.
For the mouth I made a square path and dragged the top down to
make a bowl. The I just added spaces to the beginning and end of
the word socks until I got it where I wanted. I also played with the
line spacing.
