PhotoMaster, How did you get the oval and text 3D on your Moose example? I really like the way that looks. I played around with it but still had it wrong.

Hey Pat, I made an image 1100x800 and set guides (Image>Guides>New Guide (by Percent) at 10% and 90% Vertical and Horizontal. I used these guides to make the initial oval with the oval select tool. I saved the selection to a channel (Select>Save to Channel). Then I reduced the oval selection by 80 pixels (Select>Shrink>80) and saved the channel again. In the Channel tools, select the lower one (Selection mask) and click the pink box at the bottom (sets the selection back to the larger oval). In the Channel tools, select the upper one (Selection mask copy) and, holding the control button, click the pink box again. You will see both selections highlighted. You now have the oval you want. On a blank layer just fill the selection with whatever pattern you choose. Make a text layer and selection the same as in the tutorial (Steps 4 through 12) and fill the selection with the same pattern on the same layer. (see attached image) Now you can run the 3D Bevel Script.
Let me know if this makes sense.

I decided to try 3D Bevel at 500 on the oval image above. Yeah, I can get ridiculous sometimes. But I do like how it came out.

If you ever want to make a section of pipe, this works.

I used a similar method to make my "Claw Marks" Mint wallpaper. I'll have to try out your method too....

The claw marks came out sweet! I like the thickness and texture of the red surface!

PhotoMaster Thanks for this tut. I've been looking for something like this to make tombstone lettering.
I have used the beautify filter to get a gloss-3D effect on marble.
