For me, with no internet connection,
Installation stops with 'Can not download update200.gmic'
I already have the update file.

Does the installer stop if there is not an internet connection?
(rather than check for the update file before trying to connect)

TheWarrior : yes, for now sorry but we don't manage builds for 32bits architectures. Hopefully, this will be done for the final release though, but at least for testing things, we stick with 64bits Windows.

Gotcha. Thanks for the heads up, appreciate it.

I've posted new binaries for the Qt plug-in yesterday (dated 2nd of March).
Should fix some bugs (hopefully, the one encountered by Lyle with his drive K: !).
A dark theme is also being implemented by the plug-in developer, should be available soon :)

David, do the faves go on the gui_faves or gimp_faves file in the posted binaries?

dinasset: they don't go to a text file, but they are stored as a Qt local resource file, which is I think binary compressed.
This won't be editable easily I'm afraid.

Unfortunately it did not fix the k-drive issue David nor did the favs import. I did notice that you uploaded a new gtk version as well so I installed it too and it works fine so far. Maybe it's something wrong with my GIMP configuration since I've not heard of any other person getting this particular error. :)

Bad news Lyle :(

@dinasset : I was wrong, the plug-in config is stored in a text file $HOME/.config/GREYC/gmic_qt.conf (on Linux)
(no idea where it is located on Windows though).

On my Windows 7 machine I'm seeing two files change when I use G'MIC
C:\Users\users\AppData\Roaming\gmic\gmic_qt_parameters.dat
C:\Users\users\AppData\Roaming\gmic\hotchocolate.gmic

Same for me, Kevin.
David, I don't find a similar text file.
Not a big problem, BTW.

I've just posted new pre-release binaries for 2.0.0_pre version, both for Linux (.deb packages) and Windows.
Now, the Qt-plug-in has a dark theme included :

Both GTK and QT work great, David. Even the error messages in the QT version are now gone and it launches like you would expect (and it's fast). The only problem I have now with the QT version is it keeps asking me to import favs and there are no favs afterwards. Regardless, the QT version runs the plugins at warp speed; impressive. :)

Always up for a test. This in Kubuntu 16.04 - Gimp 2.8.20

Pulled the Gimp plugin gmic_gimp_qt out of the .deb and put it in ~/.gimp-2.8/plug-ins.

Very quick test so can not say what works or not.

Only comment is the preview default is zoomed right in and needs repeated scaling down to get a useful view.

It works very quickly (used for test B&W Pencil Portrait).
When you use a fav and change a param it stores the change in the fav (but I didn't specifically ask for re-saving...); was it so also before?

I don't think it stores it 'permanently' : if you press the 'Reset' button, it resets your parameters to the ones you used when saving your fave.

My test was as such:
1-open Gimp
2-open an image
3-open GMIC
4-open a fav (Pencil Portrait)
5-change the colour
6-close Gimp
7-restart Gimp ... and when calling again the fav it had the changed colour.

Yes, the plug-in now remembers all previous changes you've made to each filter, so when you run it again, you just found the same state as when you leave it.

IMHO it's wrong for the fave (it's OK for the regular filters).
Why? Because I think the fave should keep a "stable" set of parameters, recallable until forced to change by the user. Otherwise there is no more reason to set fave...

I agree with you Dinasset.

The original fave settings are the reason to save faves.

In other words. The reset to "fave-slider-setting" doesn't work in qt.
It remembers your last settings, but forget the "reset-original-fave-setting"

In qt the last setting is than your new reset. That's not very usable.

That it remembers the last setting is OK, but it must also remember/save the "reset to fave". ;)
