GIMP Version: 2.10
Operating System: Windows
OS Version: Windows 10
GIMP Experience: Intermediate Level

Hello all,

I just install GIMP 2.10 without uninstalling GIMP 2.8 (it is stupid, I know). Now, every time I start GIMP, I get these error messages:

mathmap.exe - application error
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application

gmic_gimp.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point pthread_setname_np could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin\libglib-2.0-0.dll

Actually there is another error message related to gmic and another Entry Point Not Found, but the error message is so long so I am lazy to type it up.

My question is, how can I solve these error messages? Actually if I ignore these messages, GIMP can start normally, so it is just annoying. I have read somewhere that mathmap is for 32 bit, whereas windows 10 is for 64 bit, so the problem can't be solved in windows (but it can in Linux). Is it true?

Thank you very much for your help.

If you install/use Partha's or Samj's portable packs (I use Samj's), you do not have problerms with G'MIC.
About Mathmap, I don't know, I don't use it.

Mathmap no longer works. I've already complained about this in other posts and it saddens me. Glad I use a portable version for GIMP since I use Mathmap enough to never un-install 2.8.22. :)

Edit:

As a side note, Tas is the new maintainer for Mathmap. :)

There is G'mic for 2.10, it works with vanilla Gimp.
The latest build (May 4th) supports old 32-bit plugins, but mathmap does not work.
These gave me error on launch, I just got rid of them and hope mathmap will be fixed.

texturize.exe
liquify.exe
gimp-image-reg.exe
focusblur.exe
formulas.exe
mathmap

PSPI works, which is nice.
Have not tested all plugins yet, but the most important ones for me seem to work already.

PSPI only works in 32 bit GIMP 2.10, Nidhogg. Still not happy about that. Very not happy about Mathmap. Hope they resolve that soon. Just posted at Google Groups in the hopes that Tas gets the Windows version to work. If not, I still have GIMP 2.8.22. :)

Not true. I have Win7 64-bit and GIMP 2.10 64-bit, PSPI works.
I guess your portable is older than the latest official release.
It has option like 2.8 had to enable support for 32-bit plugins.

I've not downloaded samj's latest portable. May try to do so later to see, Nidhogg. :)

Hello dinasset,

I already install G.MIC QT version (the installer is called gmic_gimp2.10_qt_win64.exe), and it works (I can find it under Filters -> G'MIC Qt), but the error message still persists. Is this because I didn't uninstall GIMP 2.8 before I installed GIMP 2.10?

Unfortunately samj's build doesn't support 32-bit plugins with 64-bit GIMP at the moment. Not sure if it's possible to do in portable or not (yes; just downloaded the latest). Also, as before, the gradient icon's missing (not hard to re-create; since I already did so, I just copy/pasted from the old portable build). Only thing I see that's difference is G'MIC's now 2.2.3 (was 2.2.2). Anyway, looks like samj's off for a much needed trip so I can wait. :)

OK; tried an experiment. I copied the relavent directories from 32-bit GIMP to 64-bit GIMP per the directory structure like that in GIMP 2.8x. PSPI did show up (didn't crash) but when I tried to launch the PSPI settings plugin, it did crash. I then just tried to copy the PSPRC file in the directory where it should be but it didn't show any of the PS Plugins. Oh well; it almost worked. lol

Maybe, if I had the actual 32 directory it might work; who knows. :)

Hi Lyle.
I'm surprised to learn that Mathmap does not work for You.
Do You have and what error messages?
As for me, Mathmap 1.3.5 (32bit Vista) works with any version of Samj 2.9 / 2.10.
In addition to files coming from the installation mathmap-1.3.5-setup.exe (mathmap.exe, libgsl.dll, libgslcblas.dll, libgtksourceview-2.0-0.dll - without libfftw3-3.dll because it already exists in the bin directory) I add missing: iconv.dll, intl.dll , libpng12-0.dll, libxml2.dll - and only for testers in the attachment.

MareroQ. Very interesting. What Windows version are you using and is it 64bit?

MathMap development was mostly done on Ubuntu which dropped 32bit for ever last year. Not many people could compile MathMap for Windows. Mark P and PhotoComix succeeded but that may not happen again.

It would be great to compile a 64bit MathMap under Windows. Here are some instructions from 2009.
https://github.com/schani/mathmap/blob/ ... indows-dev
Note it involves compiling Gegl, babl and Gimp first :(
Maybe things have changed and its easier now?

It's likely a paths issue as for as Mathmap and the portable GIMPs is concerned, Mario.

Hope someone takes up your challenge for Windows GIMP, Tas. :)
