Not sure where I found this (it wasn't me) but, for those old plugins that don't appear to work in GIMP, you can try to created a subfolder with name that exactly matches the plugin and move the plugin there. This appears to fix most of the defective plugins that I mentioned here (except the old resynthesizer; no fixing it unfortunately).

No good reason for this. Gimp 2.10 allows plugins in directories (it makes them easier to manage) but doesn't require it. It is very likely that just moving the plugin makes Gimp re-run the registration. But so would renaming the file, or moving it out and then back in, or erasing the pluginrc file in the Gimp profile to make Gimp re-register everything.

Haven't tried making GIMP force reloading all plugins, ofnuts. Still, I got toy and ace back now (before I got toy working by simply moving the plugin in the GIMP plugins directory instead of the user plugin directory (brl plugin too (mlbevelrefect)) but this is not ideal since every time you do a GIMP update, these files will be removed. Not sure why the plugins didn't register before, but I can tolerate having them in their own respective directory.

Samj's package of 2.10.6 has both the old resynthesizer and the new. Maybe you could pull the files out of there for your installed GIMP. Or, if you use it infrequently, just use her portable version when you need it.

Use the appropriate 'flavour' 32 bit or 64 bit. Two files resynthesizer.exe and resynthesizer-gui.exe so it does not make much sense to put each in its own folder.

Just put the two files in C:\Users\your-name\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins

I suspect that Lylejk uses it for seamless patterns but for other users the associated python plugins are there as well. They go same place.

I kept the old Resynthesizer around since it did a better job of seamless edge blending then the new version (i.e, selection all, shrink selection, invert selection and run Resynthensizer w/ seamless enabled). Still, there's so many ways to skin a can that I've not had to use the Old Resynth yet. Even so, I might check out samj's old Resynth since you said it still works in portable. New python Resynthesizer works fine in 2.10x.

Tried samj's build for resynth (old) and resynthesizer (new). Both show up and work. Thanks for the tip, bilbo9955. Had to actually place all files in the user plugin folder and not a subfolder.

Sample (did have to do a bit of cloning, but trust me, much better result than new resynthesizer for wrap seamless; actually used the new version for healing a few spots and that's much better than the old version so each version has its strengths and weaknesses).
