You've got plenty of humility and an "almost intimidating, skill set".
Maybe you can become the greatest Gimp brain on the planet.

I don't think any one individual can retain all that knowledge, Gimp is too vast. I learn things as I go, same with any other program. I learn very quickly, but also forget just as quickly....

As one US lower-states perpetual newbie and former lurker to another, let me suggest that modesty does not become you. I like ya style, kid.

And you wouldn't believe how many folks seem to come to GIMP with sincere notions of the ambitions described in your first post.

Gimp Chat is a great place on the web. I hope you like it here.

Seems you almost have a British sense of humour...

I noticed you signed up twice on GL, CtrlAltDel and CtrlAltieDel, but CtrlAltieDel seemed like the successful sign in.
I deleted CtrlAltDel account so that user name is available again.
If you want to change your username from CtrlAltieDel to CtrlAltDel I can do that for you (if you like, let me know).

When overlaying text on a textured object like a wood barn, I like to play with blending modes to make the text appear to be painted onto the wood. Here I used "Soft Light" blending mode. I also used a layer mask to put the deck posts in front of the text to make it look a little better.

Right. I still am not sure what happened with that unsuccessful first try at signing up at Gimp-Learn. I know I took a wrong step somewhere but can't remember exactly what happened. Since you offered, it would be great if I could have the CtrlAltDel moniker like I do here.

Thanks a lot, trandoductin.

Changed to CtrlAltDel! Thanks!

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking for a little while and have made a few posts here and there but, neglected to introduce myself.

My goal is to consume all of the Gimp knowledge of each individual poster here and combine it in one spot, my brain. If all goes as planned this will make me to the greatest and most talented Gimp, nay photo manipulation program, user to ever walk the face of Earth.

This will be a continuing process and there currently is no set time limit on completion. For now I would like to dazzle and amaze all of you with the already highly advanced and staggering, almost intimidating, skill set that I currently possess.

Welcome to me:
