Hi, Griatch, long time no see :hehe

Little nymph/something on Tree of Life...

Actually my first image on Gimp 2.10 -- I've been using 2.8 far too long.

Pencil, Karbon (free KDE vector app) for lines and Gimp for color. I'd have used Gimp for inking/lines, but I need to transfer my own scripts for that from 2.8. But anyhoo, I had fun... No idea if this is "according to rules" tho. :hehe

I would definitely eat (those veggies) out of her hand! Nice too see another finn here.
Gee didn't know Yggdrasil was the current RAP theme, maybe I will try something...

@OMG nice pendant :coolthup

Thanks, Nidhogg! (Or should I say "kiitos!")

Kidan funny, I also thought first about Yggdrasil mythos, but then this kind of "drew itself"...

Hi there, you used to be DoomsdayRenderer, right? You won a fan-art contest I did, I recall painting one of your characters in return. :)

This is a nice, fluent result. I think I've tried Karbon at one point, but Inkscape is my go-to for vector art (MyPaint is not vector, but very good for sketching too). I like the clean-yet-loose lines of this; it's not easy to hint at form with so few lines. Is she based on a reference originally?

The only real 'rule' for the RAP is that the artwork is newly made for the RAP - and to have fun. So this fits perfectly! Who are we to judge what a given prompt inspires to anyway (heck last time the prompt was 'a quiet fishing village' and my image had no village to be seen anywhere :mrgreen: )

@oldmangrumpy"

You are on a roll with your almost jewelery-like designs!

Yes, I have several nicks on other forums, including DoomsdayRenderer, but I think I have been kimppi here always... Otherwise, it was fun contest and it was nice image you did then!

Inkscape is far superior to Karbon generally, but Karbon's line tool has really nice feel. I use many tools!

No actual reference, here's link to my pencil sketch if you want to see (big image, I may have to remove it after some weeks):

Neat way of thinking! I will give this new Gimp thoroughout test, I hope I can show then something...

@oldmangrumpy, great "engraved mysteries"! Nice ideas!

An impressively clean and very anatomically correct freehand sketch, then! :bigthup My sketches tend to be a lot messier before I find the proper pose and proportions. :)

And yeah, I use MyPaint over Krita/GIMP for similar reasons - the latter are a lot more poerful, but some of MyPaint's brushes are just very nice to work with. Since Krita now makes use of the Mypaint brush engine the difference has shrunk quite a bit though.

Someone did a brilliant job of this. I don't know who it was but I got it through creative commons and added a little gimp and nik collection to it
It is the trunk of a tree of life

Is it animal heads carved out of a tree trunk? That's a cool variation on 'tree of life'!

I took a little different approach to the "tree of life" theme this time around. Ended up a study of neon and rain :)

@oldmangrumpy: That's clever! I like that there are backup-dancers :mrgreen: I imagine tulips appreciate rain 'in reality' too, so this is most fitting.

Phew! Got the RAP done - I'm sure it's still Saturday somewhere :roll: This turned into a continuation of one of my older series called "No frowns in misery". Character is my Jester as seen before.

I did not quite understand the context of 'Household Gryphon' and when I googled all I found was a rock band, wifi routers, studio grinders for glass, capital trusts and animal hospitals. Anyway here is my Gryphon/Griffin.
