@oldmangrumpy

That certainly brings back some sentimental memories from the books. Nice story-touch with the 'recently deceased estate too'.

Something more concrete this time around, and not even fantasy for once (unless it's the hobbits' pony from Lord of the Rings I guess)!

Deadline: Sunday Sept 26
Category: Creature
Prompt: "A thick, shaggy, pack pony"

@Sallyanne: The emap is a nice outcome; Rather unusual colour scheme for that effect due to the leaves too!

Most Australian trees are not deciduous in the way that many northern hemisphere trees are and they do not provide 'autumn leaves', so we have to rely on imported species for that. However, our trees do lose their leaves, basically all year round, but they never go any where near being bare branched as do their northern cousins. Anyway it is spring here now.

Whatever, I put some gum leaves into pseudo autumn mode and added a 'gumnut' too :)

Cool OMG. I love it when the 'new' leaves come out after trees have been burnt and also other times through the year. Then they look like Autumn leaves

It gives me the feeling of letters being wrapped in a leaf-print paper. Looks very nice!

I recall a friend from Columbia telling me that European trees imported to Bogotá would basically do a 'quick winter' for a few weeks and then get back to being green. Is it the same for imported trees in Australia?

That's a beautiful photo! Great light and the fact that the green is speckled with orange/red makes for a great effect (first I almost thought it was a tree full of red apples).

@ Griatch not sure what you mean by a 'quick Winter'
But I have noticed they do not usually turn colour until the end of Autumn, lose their leaves then are sprouting again by mid Spring. The trees I have in my street do this and they go really red plus they do not flower until the end of Summer.

Near 15 years living at a bare 10 degrees above the equator, we don't have spring nor autumn, we have only dry and raining season...
Few tree's species lose their leaves (very few), but at the same time new leaves are growing up on the same tree, and still making flowers even with 50% or more of their leaves gone.
It's like those trees are completely jet-lagged :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
