PC The script is visible when you right click in the path window, even if there are no paths.Image

ofnuts: another option for the menu is to register them in as individual entries in the "Decorate" sub-menu instead of creating another menu layer. For example: Decorate > Periodic Sine wave... Since "Decorate" only has a couple of entries, crowding isn't an issue.

Obviously your script script strictly require a path, but would be better if the script would be visible anyway in the menu, even if grayed out, or popping out error messages as " the script require a path, create a path and try again" or something alike
I have no control over that. If the script is registered in the <Vectors> menu, it is under the control of that menu, and, by the way, on my 2.6.8/Linux, the menu entry shows up even id there are no paths...
And this is really where the script belongs.

i did not checked O suggestion, even if i found weird that a script may not show up for that reason
And i fully agree that the most rational location...but is also a place where few will think to look, more so many overlook the simple fact that mouse allow even RIGHT click

I don't think may be a magic solution for this was the same for some cool "gradient" scripts of RobA, theirs location was the most rational and logic, ( the contestual Gradient menu ) but was the same problem.
i also could not found them without a suggestion because at that time i didn't know that was possible register scripts also in the Vector and Gradient menu

Any possible way to merge create one path using two separate options, like make A square and B triangle?

It's very easy to do manually: "Merge visible paths" and in the path editor, connect the two paths if needed.

I go on repeting to myself that i must do a video presentation of my filters

i believe a video would be quite useful to explain the use and potential of your scripts
(also explain where are installed require too much words, words that for some reasons are often misunderstund, while just 1 image make it crystal clear )

If I were really ambitious, I'd put duck bills on those so they look like ducks. :duck :ducky

Done with the ellipse and the default sizes.

By the way, ofnuts, I'm very grateful you made the paths so that they were named. It helps me to keep the layers on the animation in order.

I personally would welcome this PhotoComix

Is it possible that the paths menu might not be the only place that Decorate can be found...I see in this a few things I have never seen before...all of the lower section of the path menu is not on my mac version of 2.6.11 at all

Akky, all of the entries below "Import Path" are additional scripts or plug-ins that have been added.

Here are a couple of scripts that register in the paths menu:
Fractilize Path
Split path into strokes
These are script-fu scripts so you should see them in your paths menu.

Many of the other entries, including ofnut's, are python scripts and will only show up if you have Python support installed.

Someone else will have to help you install Python.

Hmmmm...

On a different note, I was told by some colleagues that Macs come pre-installed with Python, but its possible you may not have the proper version needed for GIMP 2.6 series. Of course, the conversation wasn't related to this topic and I never discussed anything else in regards to its location, installation folder, etc.

I don't quite get it.... the screenshot you have show that path-waves is registered correctly (version 0.1 on top screenshot, and version 0.0 on bottom one).

Of course, if you have no path listed in the Paths dialog they won't do anything (they won't even be called).

I believe Akky was using someone else's screenshot and using it as reference.

Another thought that crosses my mind: there are currently two distinct "position" controls (Sine/cosine and side A/B). Would it be more practical to have one single option? If so, how would you call the different choices?
  • 1, 2, 3, 4?
  • A, B, C, D?
  • 0, 90, 180, 270?
  • +sine, +cosine, -sine, -cosine?
  • other?
And how would you label the option: "Position"? "Phase"? "Shift"? "Offset"?
