Rod I think it's supposed to be animated

But it looks pretty cool non animated even

I didn't want to animate it.

Rod, what did you do to keep it from cutting off the edges?

I created the font, filled it with a gradient.Deleted the bg layer (white layer), and ran the filter.Then i deleted all but the top layer of the animation.

By the way the gradient is a white (bottom) to yellow to orange to red to black (top) blend.

I've figured out how to make the fire less 'smooth', and added a 'Threshold' slider in the plug-in interface.
Can now generate things like this :



I'm still investigating...

(new slider should be available after a filter 'refresh').

Also, the filter can be interesting to actually simulate fire on a real photograph. Here, I added the fire-filtered result as a new layer, and use 'Addition' layer mode to generate the right image. This is not perfect, but not bad, don't you think so ?

David, the fire animator script has the capability to change gradients. Could G'MIC have that feature? Is it possible?

Yes it would be possible, but for more flexibility, I would rather suggest to use the 'B&W recolorize' filter as a second step (located in 'G'MIC / Colors /').

I did it to each layer. Ctrl + F made fast work of it. Will have to see how to do the gradient of my choice. This is the same image I posted above recolorized.
